5 Groningen companies in the top 20 of Deloitte's annual Fast50

Last Thursday, Deloitte announced the annual ranking of the 50 fastest growing tech companies in the Netherlands. No less than 5 companies in the ranking are based in Groningen and this is the sixth year in a row where Groningen as a city is in second place.

The Deloitte Fast50 is one of the leading rankings for fast growing tech companies in the world. Nominated companies have to be founded at least four years ago and the selection is based on the percentage of revenue growth in the past four years. This year was the 18th edition of the annual ranking, celebrating extraordinary achievements of tech companies.

Simplicate (4th place, 3013% growth)

Simplicate develops smart software for businesses to help with things like project management, CRM and keeping track of billable hours. In 2016, the startup landed a €1 million investment from the Investment and Development Agency for the Northern Netherlands (NOM) and has been growing exponentially since then. Last year, they opened their second office in Amsterdam.

Appwiki (7th place 1281% growth)

New kid on the block Appwiki helps companies find the right software with their free consultancy platform.

Parkos (9th place, 1234% growth)

Parkos is a platform where you can compare and book your airport parking space and this is the second year they made it onto Deloitte’s ranking. In last year’s Fast50, the company was ranked 29th place, with 490% growth.

Nova Incasso (18th place, 681% growth)

Collection agency Nova Incasso also won a FD Gazelle Award for fastest growing company of the Northern Netherlands in 2017. Last year, Nova Incasso was ranked 16th place in the Fast50.

Payt (20th place, 608% growth)

One of the ten Deloitte Rising Stars in 2015, invoicing platform Payt has more than 10.000 clients and is the proud main sponsor of the FC Groningen soccer team. Last year, the company was ranked 11th place in the Fast50.

With a place in the Fast50, competing companies are also automatically in the running for a spot in the EMEA Fast500, to be announced later this year. The EMEA Fast500 ranks the 500 fastest growing companies in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Last year, Catawiki dominated that list as well.

BUKU wins KvK innovation top 100 audience choice award

This week, the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) announced their annual top 100 of the most innovative companies. Groningen based startup BUKU won the Audience Choice Award for their subscription based platform for educational books. The startup was ranked 57th in the top 100, but won the popular vote, with 615 votes.
