Last Thursday, Deloitte announced the annual ranking of the 50 fastest growing tech companies in the Netherlands, during the award ceremony in De Hallen, Amsterdam. Just like in the previous two years, 7 companies in the ranking are based in Groningen. A whopping 33% of companies in the top 10 and 25% in the top 20 are from Groningen too.
In 2012 there were only two Groningen based companies listed in the Fast50. The fact that there are 7 companies in Deloitte’s ranking, shows not just a big increase, but also that the listed companies show a very healthy rate of growth. This is also the third year in a row that Groningen as a city is second on the list, with the majority of companies featured in the top 50 for their second year. Their rank in the Fast50 is based on the percentage of revenue growth over the past 4 years.
Catawiki (1st place, sector winner media, 3676% growth)
Last year, auction website Catawiki already had an enormous lead of 45080%, almost ten times as high as the number 2. It’s no surprise that the company is this year’s big winner yet again.
VoIPGRID (9th place, 863% growth)
Mark Vletter’s telecommunications platform was ranked 4th last year, with a growth percentage of 2380%. Voys, the founder’s other company didn’t compete this year, but made it to the Fast50 for a whopping 4 consecutive years.
Gadero (10th place, 715% growth)
Online wood and furniture shop Gadero is one of the new additions, making it to the list for the first time. The company is also nominated for Website of the Year 2016.
Embrace SBS (13th, 644% growth)
The social company software platform Embrace SBS is the other new kid on the block, making it to 13th place on Deloitte’s ranking.
Brandfield (16th place, 576% growth)
This is the second time the online fashion store made it to the Fast50. Last year, the company was ranked 29th, with a growth percentage of 347%.
Looking For Booking (33rd place, 334% growth)
Gerlof Bos and Ben Woldring’s hotel price comparison website had made it to the list for three consecutive years. Last year, the company came in 14th, with a growth percentage of 751%.
Experty (39th place, 311% growth)
The online retail chain has made it to the Fast50 for the 5th time in a row! Last year, the company came in 21nd, with a percentage of 478%.
The Deloitte Fast50 is one of the leading rankings for fast growing tech companies in the world. Nominated companies have to be founded at least four years ago and the selection is based on the percentage of revenue growth in the past four years. This year was the 17th edition of the annual ranking, celebrating extraordinary achievements of tech companies.
With a place in the Fast50, competing companies are also automatically in the running for a spot in the EMEA Fast500, to be announced later this year. The EMEA Fast500 ranks the 500 fastest growing companies in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Last year, Catawiki dominated that list as well.
